Catalogue
We have a searchable online catalogue for our collections. There may be collections that are still in the process of being catalogued. If you cannot find what you are looking for on our catalogue, please get in touch as we may have box lists or further information about uncatalogued items.
Reading Rooms
The Park Row site has three reading rooms, all of which are accessible via lift and which are open Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm. The largest of these also contains a small reference library of books relating to the different archive collections that we hold. These are not for loan but are available for use by researchers in the reading room. This room is also equipped with screen and overhead visualiser so that the room can also be used for workshops run by Theatre Collection staff.
The smallest reading room (seating capacity up to 8 persons) can also be made available for group study on request and contains facilities for searching the Theatre Collection catalogue and viewing digitised materials. This room also contains a wide range of published plays, which can be accessed by researchers using our reading rooms.
There are accessible toilets on the same floor as the reading room. Free to use lockers next to the main reading room are available for coats and bags. The are no café facilities but there are cafes and supermarkets nearby on Park Row, Park Street and Queens Street.
Screening Room
The Theatre Collection contains 11,000 hours of digitally preserved film as part of our archive collections. A screening room for consultation of archival audio-visual material is available for researchers and can be booked when arranging a research visit to the Theatre Collection. Please contact us for details.
Exhibition Rooms
Our main foyer (level entrance with ramped access) contains two exhibition areas, which are used for three exhibitions each year, featuring aspects of our collections. The exhibitions are free and open from 9:30am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday.
