Participating in the University of Bristol's ILO Mentoring programme has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. It has allowed me to give back to the University that shaped my career and to inspire the next generation of engineers to achieve their goals. This programme is truly a two-way street; while I share my industry knowledge with the students, they also teach me about the latest developments and methodologies that they are exposed to at such a fantastic institution. The students are bastions of new knowledge, and as a mentor, I am always eager to learn from their fresh perspectives. I wish more universities offered similar services, as this is truly an incredible opportunity for students to gain insight into what life in industry is like—something not everyone gets unless they pursue Year-in-Industry programmes!
