Mobile World Congress
Introducing telecoms changemakers to our vision for next-gen networks
At Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, JOINER Platform and the REASON Open Networks Project showcased their latest innovations together with partners. Policymakers, technology developers and senior executives from around the world experienced live demonstrations highlighting how the Lab is shaping the next generation of global telecoms.
The JOINER Platform is a national experimentation platform connecting research labs across the UK. It drives collaborative, large-scale testing, provides a real-life environment for new technology solutions, and fuels 6G research and telecoms innovation. JOINER is led by the University of Bristol in partnership with CHEDDAR, HASC and TITAN, forming the Federated Telecoms Hubs.
The REASON Open Networks Project unites industry partners and academic institutions to create breakthrough multi-technology access solutions and AI-driven network architectures. At MWC, we worked with our partners to demonstrate:
- the world’s first truly mobile volumetric video production, transforming immersive communications for multiple sectors
- next-level fan engagement in football stadiums
- how advanced telecoms innovations can boost productivity in manufacturing.
Together, these demonstrations showed the real-world potential of next-generation networks — from revolutionising how we communicate to transforming the industries that shape everyday life.
