Connected Futures Festival

The Connected Futures Festival brought together researchers, industry and the public to explore what next-generation connectivity could mean for people, places and possibilities by 2035.

At the heart of the festival was a vibrant showcase of next-generation connectivity. Organised by REASON, JOINER Platform and the Federated Telecoms Hubs, the event united researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and the public to explore what 6G could mean for society by 2035. While the main conference buzzed with panels and keynotes, Millennium Square was where the future came to life.

Interactive demos offered a hands-on glimpse into how 6G could transform industries and everyday life:

  • Holographic human: real-time volumetric video showing immersive communication.
  • Inside the Arena: a private-network stadium model enhancing fan experiences.
  • Autonomous self-configuring factory: digital twins revolutionising manufacturing.
  • Remote dental inspection: a haptic controller in Bristol guided a robotic arm in Glasgow, 370 miles away.
  • Latency Luma: a giant robotic snail demonstrating ultra-low latency for networked control.

These demos did more than inform. They inspired curiosity and conversation about the future of connectivity.
