The centre aims to facilitate collaborative research with and on creative technologies, across research disciplines and community and industry partners at the local, national and international level.
Creative technologies, as defined by the centre, is inclusive of analogue and digital technologies, from film and print to gaming and VR. The work of the centre cuts across four thematic strands, Creativity and Al, Creative Community Technologies, XR and Games for Social Good, and Alternative Technologies.
The centre is part of the Pervasive Media Studio collaboration between University of Bristol, University of the West of England (UWE) and Watershed.
Through our creative and cultural industry partnerships, through public engagement, interdisciplinary and cross-Faculty research, including with Engineering, we explore convergences between emerging technologies and media, e.g. between immersive, GenAI, digital gaming and robotics.
