Professional/staff Research Ethics Committee roles

The Research Ethics Committees (RECs) provide an invaluable service in facilitating research by reviewing ethics applications for research involving human participants and/or their data, and upholding the high ethical standards in research that the University of Bristol aims to meet.

You can see a complete breakdown of the university Research Ethics Committee structure here, but in short the RECs are comprised of several distinct roles:

  • REC Chair
  • REC Deputy Chair
  • REC Member
  • REC Independent Member

Note: we are currently recruiting to all of these positions. Please contact us at research-ethics@bristol.ac.uk to express interest, or if you have any questions.

More information on the responsibilities of each role can be found in this document: REC based role descriptions (PDF, 103kB)
