In this podcast, Professor Bruce Hood breaks down what the science says about cultivating happiness. According to behavioural genetics, on a population level, an average of just 40% of happiness is determined by biological factors. This means that we are able to influence our happiness through a variety of means. Hood highlights an individual's capacity to recover from difficulties, strong relationships, optimism and flow state as key factors for happiness.
This research forms the basis of his Science of Happiness course, in which students have their own happiness levels measured as part of the course.
