Philippa's expertise lies at the intersection of labour law and human rights. Her research examines how rights are enforced and conceptualised, as well as the implications of workplace technology for our human rights.

Biography
Philippa Collins is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol. Her research focuses on the intersection between labour law and human rights law, as well an interest in the law of dismissal and the integration of technology in the workplace. Her book, Putting Human Rights to Work: Labour Law, The ECHR and The Employment Relation, was published by Oxford University Press in 2022. Philippa completed her doctoral studies at the University of Oxford, Brasenose College, with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Her work has been published in the European Labour Law Journal, the Law Quarterly Review and the Industrial Law Journal, amongst others.
Prior to joining the University of Bristol, Philippa was a lecturer at the University of Exeter. She remains an associate member of the Human Rights and Democracy Forum and the Centre for Science, Culture and the Law at Exeter. Philippa is also an active member of the Society of Legal Scholars, the Centre for Law at Work in Bristol, the Industrial Law Society and the Labour Law Research Network. She holds a BCL and MPhil, both with Distinction, from the University of Oxford and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Birmingham.
Philippa welcomes proposals for collaboration and supervision in any of the areas in which she is interested, including labour law, human rights, and technology & work.
