I am a Senior Research Associate in Epidemiology within Bristol Medical School (Population Health Sciences), University of Bristol. I currently work on a project exploring the relationship between eating disorders and self-harm in young people (PI Dr Helen Bould). We will be investigating whether emotional dysregulation in childhood is associated with eating disorders and self-harm in adolescence and young adulthood using the ALSPAC cohort.
My research interests are in mental health in young people. I previously worked at Cardiff University on a project assessing whether it is feasible to collect DNA samples from adolescents in schools and link this information to mental health measures (see preprint). In my PhD I examined whether overgeneral autobiographical memory could be a potential risk factor for early-onset depression using a number of different approaches (epidemiology, psychology, neuroimaging). I also worked on a project looking at changes in child mental health and associated outcomes over time.
