Biography
I am a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol specialising in sport and gambling. With a background in Sport and Sociology, my research explores areas such as sport and gambling, as well as inclusion, identity and belonging in sport subcultures.
I have worked on several projects relating to gambling including: exploring the relationship between gambling and grassroots football, exploring the prevelence of gambling marketing in the Premier League, and exploring local council policy approaches to gambling marketing. Research I have contributed to on sport and gambling has received national and international media coverage, including in Channel 5 News, The Guardian, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It has also informed UK policy debates, with findings cited by Peers for Gambling Reform, the Gambling-Related Harm All-Party Parliamentary Group, and the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
I have also underkaten a Policy Fellowship on Project FIAS - a research and impact project aimed at addressing gender inequality in mountain biking. Working with a consortium of partners (British Cycling, Forestry England, International Mountain Bike Association, Scottish Cycling and Welsh Cycling), we have co-created a variety of resources, including a Framework and Toolkit, to help guide strategic practice within organisations, in order to help shift the culture of mountain biking towards inclusivity.
