Biography
I am an Associate Professor in Spanish Language Teaching in the School of Modern Languages at the University of Bristol, where I have also served as Deputy School Education Director. I have more than twenty years’ experience in higher education, specialising in Spanish language education, curriculum design, assessment and academic leadership. I hold an MA in Spanish and general linguistics from the University of Oviedo in Spain and in sociolinguistics from Queen Mary, University of London.
Before joining Bristol in 2018, I taught at the University of Surrey for fourteen years, where I held a range of academic leadership roles, including subject lead, programme director and senior coordinator for Year Abroad provision. At Bristol, I am the Language Director in the department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, with responsibility for language provision across the undergraduate and university‑wide (UWLP) programmes, and for leading the language teaching team. I have particular expertise in the administration of the Year Abroad and international partnerships, working closely with universities, schools and language organisations in the UK and abroad, which includes Spain and Latin America.
