Biography
I went on to complete a NIHR School for Public Health Research Launching Fellowship (2023 - 2025), in which I provided inequalities and qualitative expertise on the HAF-DEFINE project, which examined the engagement with holiday clubs among families with low income. The project had strong policy engagement with the Department for Education and involved a novel 'creative facilitation' approach to data collection.
I will continue my interest in inequalities and young people's health through a Wellcome Early Career Award (2025 - 2030): Unlocking the potential of intersectionality for reducing adolescent mental health inequalities: a mixed methods and theoretically grounded approach. This fellowship brings together a large team of collaborators across academic, policy, voluntary community organisations, practice and those with direct experience with the aim of informing equitable strategies for young people's mental health.
In addition to my research I have a strong record of leadership and academic citizenship. I am the cross-cutting co-lead of the Bristol Medical School Equality Diversity and Inclusion Board. I have completed programmes including the GW4 Crucible 2024 and the GROW programme for mental health researchers.
Research interests
I am a mixed methods researcher who sits at the intersection of sociology and public health. I am interested in young people's mental health inequalities, intersectionality, policy engagement and creative approaches to complex problems.
