Biography
I joined Bristol in 2023, having taught German at Bangor University in North Wales for several years prior. A qualified language teacher, I also worked at a language school in Eastbourne and several secondary schools in Hamburg, Germany, before shifting my focus to Adult and Higher Education.
I hold a BA in Education (English, Geography, Pedagogy) from the University of Flensburg, Germany, and a postgraduate qualification in Teaching German as a Foreign and Second Language from the University of Bonn, Germany.

Scholarship
My scholarship interests include language acquisition and related pedagogies: creative methods in language teaching (drama pedagogy, pop music, creative writing), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), authentic and (neuro-)inclusive teaching and assessment, and learner autonomy.
Teaching
I have taught German language at all levels on degree courses as well as the University-Wide Language Programme. I also supervise the German Year Abroad on Stage project.
I currently coordinate and teach on:
- GERM10040: German Language and Cultures 1a (Year 1 core unit for post-A-level students, B1+)
- UWLP10006/20015: Intermediate German (Year 1/2 unit in UWLP, B1+)
- GERM10041: German Language and Cultures 1b (Year 1 core unit for beginners)
- GERM20001: German Language and Cultures 2a (Year 2 core unit post A-level, B2)
- GERM30001: German Language and Cultures 3 (final year core unit, C1)
