Heike is a public health nutritionist focusing on sustainable agri-food systems and agriculture-nutrition linkages. She is particularly interested in nutrition-sensitive food system interventions, and the interlinkages between human, animal, and environmental health. She holds a BSc. in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and an MSc. in Nutrition for Global Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

Heike recently started her Ph.D. studies at the Bristol Veterinary School in collaboration with Rothamsted Research. Her project focuses on minimising food losses and waste and the impacts and trade-offs for human, animal, and environmental health.

Before joining the University of Bristol, Heike worked at LSHTM in the Innovative Methods and Metrics for Agriculture and Nutrition Action (IMMANA) programme where she was part of the Synthesis Centre for Agriculture-Nutrition Research. In this role, she worked on an evidence and gap map for food system interventions and nutrition outcomes in collaboration with the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). She was engaged in a research project assessing the impacts of food systems plastic on the environment, human health, and economic outcomes. Further, she participated in organising and moderating some of the sessions in the annual Agriculture, Nutrition and Health Academy Week which was delivered virtually in 2020.

Heike has experience in conducting systematic reviews, quantitative analyses, data collection and conducting participatory research.
