Research interests
I’m writing my PhD thesis on the role and significance of Crete in archaic Greek epic, with a primary focus on the Odyssey, as a route to understanding the circulation of ideas in the Greek world during a crucial period for the emergence of ‘panhellenic’ identity. Beyond the scope of my thesis, I’m interested in the dynamics of the archaic Greek oral traditional system and its interactions with social, political, cultural and religious systems more broadly. I’m particularly interested in how knowledge, truth, authority and identity are constructed during this period.
