Biography
In 2014, I received a Leverhulme EC Fellowship, and since then, a significant portion of my research has been dedicated to the Syrian refugee crisis in neighbouring Arab countries. Specifically, I investigate how displacement is influenced by conceptions of space in international relations theory and international politics at large.
In 2022, I was awarded a BA Talent Development Award. Currently, my focus is exploring the potential of computational text analysis applied to the study of Islamist movements. Particularly, I utilize NLP and Text-Mining techniques to track variations in political discourse and identity. Through this analysis, I aim to develop hypotheses regarding the factors that contribute to these variations.
Research interests
My work concentrates on analyzing and advancing international relations theories applied to the context of Middle Eastern politics and societies.
I research the impact of Syrian displacement on Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq, with a particular focus on the interplay between concepts of space, borders, and displacement.
I also explore the use of natural language processing and text mining to examine critically the ideological landscape of Islamist movements in the region and its evolution across time and cases.
