Research interests
Emily is currently a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol Business School and holds a PhD from the University of Bath School of Management, completed through an interdisciplinary, EPSRC-funded CDT programme in Cyber Security at the Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour (IDSB).
Her research addresses sociological and organisational questions related to digital subcultures, identity and governance, employing mixed methods approaches. In her current postdoctoral role, she works on an ESRC-funded project examining self-avatars and virtual environments. Her broader research agenda focuses on the communication and commercialisation of conspiratorial narratives and content moderation processes. Given the implications of her work, she collaborates closely with policymakers and industry partners.
Previously, Emily has acquired both a masters and undergraduate degree in Human Geography from the University of Bristol.
