Biography
I graduated from University of Bristol with a BSc in Neuroscience in 2007, before proceeding to The University of Warwick, to study postgraduate medicine, graduating in 2011.
I returned to the South West of England to undertake Foundation and General Practice specialist training, both in the Severn Deanery. I qualified as a General Practitioner, gaining membership status in 2016 and have been working in Locum and Out-of-Hours settings in the BNSSG region since.
I joined the School of Anatomy, University of Bristol in 2016, becoming a Lecturer in 2018. I was appointed Senior Lecturer at the School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience in 2023.
My academic interests lie chiefly within the teaching of clinically-orientated biomedical sciences, and their relevance to body function and medical and surgical practice, across the three professional programmes (medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine). I also contribute to pedagogical research, and Outreach/PES initiatives, particularly in relation to my clinical interests.
I enjoy utilising the expertise and knowledge I have attained from both my science and medical degrees, and emphasising the importance of basic sciences to our professional students in relation to multiple facets of their practice. In my science teaching, I have a focus on teaching nervous and musculoskeletal systems, and a keen interest in reverse translational research, supervising final year undergraduate BSc students in resource, data collection and library based assignments.
