Biography
Alongside working in professional services, I have completed a part-time masters and professional doctorate researching higher education, specifically the student experience, and the contributions of professional services staff to higher education institutions. I now try to combine my professional and research experience to investigate issues relating to the practice of higher education management and support evidence-informed practice. This focuses on reducing 'orgasational blind spots' by making operational work, experiences and challenges more visible.
I advocate for the continuing professional development of professional services colleagues, and those engaged in research, having establised an informal community on LinkedIN: higher education professional services research network. I support newer researchers in the field of higher education as Co-Convenor of the SRHE Newer Researchers network and Co-Editor of Perspectives: policy and practice in higher education.
I regularly speak at sector events, and engaged with professional and research networks and commuinties, including Association of Higher Education Professionals (AHEP), Academic Registrar's Council (ARC), JISC, Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE), Assessment in Higher Education (AHE).
