Biography
Research interests
Dr Aoife Finnerty is a Senior Research Associate in Healthcare Law at University of Bristol Law School where she works on the BABEL Project. Her research interests lie broadly in medical law and tort and include informed consent to medical treatment, mental capacity, advance decision-making, healthcare decision-making in pregnancy and the interaction between the law and breastfeeding. She has been published in the Medical Law Review and the European Journal of Health Law. Prior to joining the BABEL Project, Aoife worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the JCOERE Project based at University College Cork. She holds a Master of Arts in Medical Ethics and Law from King’s College London and a PhD from the University of Limerick. Her doctoral research focused on advance decision-making in pregnancy in Ireland, England and Wales and New York State.
