Research interests
My research focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of health behaviours, with a focus on tobacco and alcohol use. I am particularly interested in understanding what drives decisions around health behaviours, and developing novel interventions to promote positive health and wellbeing.
Recent work includes working with partners from local authority and clinical settings to explore how to implement feasible and effective interventions, including how to tailor to reach and meet needs of underserved groups. We have also used choice architecture theory to develop environmental interventions across a range of health-related domains including body dissatisfaction and alcohol consumption.
I am affiliated to a number of large investments including the CRUK-funded Obesity-related Cancer Epidemiology Programme, MRC-funded Integrative Epidemiology Programme, NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre and NIHR Policy Research Unit for Addictions (based at Kings College London).
