The children in our care are provided with a healthy, well-balanced diet of varied and nutritious meals. The daily diet is chosen to accommodate the cultural, medical, or religious needs of the children attending.

We make sure that the meals are suitable for children and toddlers alike and that special dietary needs (e.g. for allergies, for vegetarians, for vegans, or for religious reasons, etc.) are catered for as far as possible. All members of staff are vigilant about ensuring that children follow their diets.

Babies' (3 to 18 months) feeding times and food requirements vary. See the babyroom page or contact us for more information. For younger babies parents will be required to provide milk for their children.

For the older children (1.5 to 4 years) the nursery provides:

  • toast and  fruit plus a cup of milk or water at milk time (9.30 a.m. - 10.00 a.m.);
  • a main course, a pudding and a cup of water at lunch time (12.30 - 1.30 p.m.);
  • and a light afternoon tea between (3.30 - 4.00 pm for Babies and 4.00-4.30pm for Toddlers, Cubs and Lions.)

Lunch is supplied by the University catering service based at Hawthorns and is delivered in insulated boxes to the nursery. The menu is produced in consultation with nursery staff. This facilitates prompt feedback and greater flexibility.

Weekly menus are displayed on the notice boards for the parents to see.

Fresh drinking water is avaliable to the children at all times.
