The Cub Room

In the Cub Room the children are developing and growing up really quickly. We support their learning and development thought the use of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) it is introduced in ways that are suitable to the children, often through play. We build on the children’s existing skills and interests and through play activities and encourage our children to become more independent. They are able to plan and choose what they would like to do, also being responsible for tidying up, this encourages freedom of choice and decision making in later life!

They have access to a wide range of activities and toys including construction, role play, small world and many others to cover the EYFS, six areas of learning. Some of the activities may be a bit messy and as the children learning to be independent, sometimes a few changes of clothes are needed.

They have regular access to the outside area where they make great use of the climbing frame and slide as well as other toys including bikes and large scale construction. On Wednesday mornings we have Stretch and Grow, a fun exercise class where the children learn about their bodies and fitness.

Topics are based around children’s interest and cover many aspects of the EYFS. Information about our current activities are available on our notice board.

Children at this time are required to be assessed against the Early Years Foundation Stage. To do this we write a 2 year check, which we share with you and your child's health visitor if possible.

During the ages of 2 and 3, children start to show an interest in potty training, we are here to help you and keep things consistent for your child. Just remember lots of spare clothes!
