The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 has ranked Bristol among the UK’s top research universities. Our research is shown to have top quality and major impact on society and the economy, according to this assessment of research at every UK university. REF2014 will decide how around £2 billion in research funding will be allocated each year from 2015-16.

Bristol PhD student Rachel Hare is set to compete in the finals of the European 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) contest, becoming the first University of Bristol entrant to reach this stage of the competition.

By analysing digital copies of an incredibly rare and obscure 17th century Italian religious text, a University of Bristol academic has revealed that a long-lost document previously thought to have been written by William Shakespeare’s father belongs in fact to his relatively unknown sister Joan.

A 55-year-old who returned to education after a serious bike crash made him rethink his life has graduated from the University of Bristol.
