Iftar is the evening meal in which Muslims end their daily sunrise to sunset fast for Ramadan.
This Thursday and Friday the University of Bristol will open the doors of its Wills Memorial Building from 7pm to 10.45pm.
Tickets for the Open Iftars are free and 300 people will come each evening.
Each event will include a payer for Muslim guests, a home-cooked dinner for all attendees and speeches (see below).
The Open Iftars follow virtual Ramadan celebrations held by the University in 2020 and 2021.
Robiu Salisu, Student Inclusion Officer at the University of Bristol and one of the organisers of the event, said: “For years now, Muslim communities all over the world have been inviting folks from all walks of life to break their fast with them.
“We have seen the success of the Bristol Grand Iftar, established in 2017, which brings thousands of people from diverse backgrounds to collectively share the breaking of fast together.
“I am delighted that we can deliver this event in person this year to strengthen community ties and sense of belonging at the University."
