Honorary degrees awarded [Tuesday 19 February]

Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to Dr Clifford Cocks and Mr Tim Pigott-Smith at today’s degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building [Tuesday 19 February].

Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to Dr Clifford Cocks and Mr Tim Pigott-Smith at today’s degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building [Tuesday 19 February].

Dr Clifford Cocks, CB, Chief Mathematician, GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) and co-discoverer of foundational techniques in cryptography will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Science at the 11.15 am ceremony.

Mr Tim Pigott-Smith, actor and award-winning theatre director and Bristol graduate, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Letters at the 2.30 pm ceremony.

The degree is in recognition of his distinguished career in dramatic arts.
