Tyndall Avenue set for temporary closure

12 January 2007

Tyndall Avenue will be closed to through traffic from 6 to 23 February inclusive.

The contractor, Willmott Dixon, has to close the road so that it can undertake essential drainage works to connect the new building to the public sewers. Pedestrian traffic and access to buildings will not be affected.

The £7.6 million building, which will link through to the existing H H Wills Physics Laboratory, will contain some of the ‘quietest’ laboratories in the world and should be completed by the end of 2007.

The Centre will bring together biologists, chemists, computer scientists, engineers, mathematicians and physicists, and should keep Bristol at the forefront of nanoscience and quantum information research for decades.

As well as addressing deep questions in fundamental science, the research carried out in the building will have implications for the development of future computing, communications and health technologies and advanced materials.

Anyone requiring further information about the road closure or its implications is welcome to contact Paul Cooper, Senior Project Officer, on 0117 928 8042 (internal extension 88042).
