Our vision

TBRC will operate under the One Health concept for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment.

Our mission

This national facility for large animals was developed at the University of Bristol in partnership with the Medical Research Council and the British Heart Foundation.

It is designed to operate at GLP and NHS standards to facilitate the translation of fundamental discoveries and emerging biomedical technologies to patients.

Offical opening

Our official opening occurred on 9 June 2016.

Location

The facility is ideally suited to large animal trials with excellent on-site veterinary support and care and welfare of animals at the forefront of the design.

An important aspect of the rural location is the ability to house and maintain animals in the long term. Longitudinal studies demonstrating full recovery and long-term positive health outcomes are easily achieved.

Researchers are thus able to monitor and track the full-long term health status of the patient over months or even years.
