Data Hazards Workshop
The Data Hazards project is a project about using worst-case scenarios of data science to help researchers think differently about ethics in their research (watch an animation about the project here). We are running a workshop in SM4 in the Ada Lovelace Building on 10th April from 1-4pm where we will be putting this project into practise.
At this event you will have the opportunity to hear about some innovative new interdisciplinary data science projects being run with Seedcorn Funding from the Jean Golding Institute and take part in guided discussions about data ethics which will feed directly into the research.
The event is free to attend and includes a free lunch for attendees!
As part of the workshop you will:
- Learn about the Data Hazards project,
- Listen to presentations from the Seedcorn project owners,
- Use the Data Hazards to give your views to influence a current data science project,
- Work with others to see how different people's perspectives influence what we each think is ethical.
This workshop is suitable for those who:
- Are interested in ethics in data science,
- Want to find out more about interdisciplinary data science research being conducted at the University,
- Care about the societal impact of data science projects.
We love having a variety of people at our workshops and you do not need to have any specific knowledge to join, and everyone is welcome!
To register to attend please see the Data Hazards Workshop Eventbrite Page.
