Building Grief Literacy and Community

Building Grief Literacy and Community with Dr Lesel Dawson, Associate Professor in Literature and Culture in the Department of English, and Professor Lucy Selman, Professor of Palliative and End of Life Care in the Bristol Medical School

Grief affects us all, and yet people often struggle to talk about death and dying. 🦋 Good Grief Festival aims to open up conversations about death and grief, showing that these painful but important aspects of human experience need to be understood, respected and supported.

Led by Professor Lucy Selman and Dr Lesel Dawson (pictured), Good Grief brings together expertise from Bristol Medical School and the Arts to provide support, information and community to bereaved people and the wider public.

Now launched as a social venture spinout at the University of Bristol, Good Grief has welcomed over 35,000 people to over 350 in-person and online events, many of which are available to watch back free on The Grief Channel. The Festival is underpinned by the Bristol Centre for Grief Research & Engagement, with the Grief Academy offering courses for bereaved people and professionals.
