The University of Bristol Volcanology Research Group is comprised of a team of dedicated permanent academic staff, research and administrative staff, postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate researchers, undergraduate thesis students, and honorary academic researchers; all working together to understand and share more about the world of volcanoes. Research and Administrative Staff
- Dr Siân Bodfel PorterI am the Project Manager for the MACE study within the School of Earth Science. The study focuses on designing and building drones that will travel to high altitudes with the aim of being deployed around erupting volcanoes to collect samples from volcanic plumes.
- Hayley GoodesTechnical Specialist - I provide manage and provide technical support to a number of laboratories in Earth Sciences, particularly those linked to the Petrology and Volcanology research groups.
- Dr Samuel MitchellAs a former student and postdoctoral researcher of the Bristol volcanology group, I now provide part-time administrative, technical, media and outreach support to the group and broader within the School of Earth Sciences. Primarily, I provide support to projects within physical volcanology and fluid dynamics.
- Clare WilliamsI provide operational support for the ‘Ex-X: Expecting the Unexpected, Dangerous Volcanoes’ project, including web development, social media, event and travel coordination, and financial record management.
