We are pleased to announce a Petrology Lunch with Ben Williamson on the topic of: Rethinking porphyry Cu formation and targeting via an industry-focused research bid.
Abstract
Ben Williamson will be leading the Petrology Lunch session this Thursday (12–13:00, L102) to discuss ideas for an industry focussed pitch to carry out research on porphyry Cu deposits. Such a bid is timely given the recent classification of Cu as a critical metal in the EU and USA, the long history of porphyry research in the School, diminishing exploration success for large deposits, and the currently favourable financial position of many of the major mining companies. He will begin with the what and whys and then present some initial ideas to get the conversation started. Given the excellent range of highly relevant research expertise in the School, it would be great to see as many of you there/online as possible.
