6 March 2024, 4.00 PM - 6 March 2024, 6.30 PM

Professor Jenni Barclay, University of Bristol

Wills Memorial Building, Reception Room

We are pleased to welcome Professor Jenni Barclay for her Inaugural Lecture on: Crystals and crises - What matters when volcanoes erupt?

Abstract:

For populations at risk there are three fundamental questions to ask during a volcanic crisis.

(1) Given unrest: is the volcano going to erupt?

(2) When it erupts: what will it do?

(3) Given an eruption: when will it stop?

In this talk Jenni explores how we can use past eruptions and their rocks combined with records of population response to reduce future volcanic risk.

Attendance is free, booking required via Eventbrite.
