Personal and professional development (PPD)

Our Personal and Professional Development (PPD) programme of workshops, seminars and online resources, is open to all postgraduate researchers. The opportunities available allow you to get the most out of your time at Bristol, to become an outstanding researcher, and to prepare you for your chosen career.

Covid-19 and personal and professional development

In order to safeguard our PGR community, all face to face personal and professional development (PPD) sessions are now suspended until further notice.

Please look out for future updates on this via email. If you have pre-existing bookings via MyPGR you will be contacted directly with details of your specific session. We are evaluating each workshop separately and will be offering e-learning alternatives where possible.

Assessing your needs

Figure out which stage you are at, what you need, and why your personal and professional development is important.

I went to the 'Personal Impact and Confident Networking' training session which was absolutely excellent and really helped me to feel more confident in my status as a researcher but I also learnt things that will help me in all aspects of my life.
