Athena Swan
Bristol Dental School holds a prestigious Athena Swan Silver Award, and has a strong commitment to equality of opportunity.
Athena Swan awards recognise the efforts of organisations to ensure a positive working environment: that diversity is represented and valued at all levels and that there is equality of opportunity for promotion and progression for all staff. The University of Bristol is a founder member of the Advance HE Athena Swan Charter, a framework used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education and research.
Bristol Dental School was the first dental school to be awarded an Athena Swan Silver Award in 2015. We were awarded a Bronze Award in 2017 and another Silver Award in 2018. We continue to proactively promote gender equality in our school and most recently were awarded our third Athena Swan Silver Award in November 2024.
