Embedding sustainability is a core cross-cutting theme within the University of Bristol's Strategy and Bristol Dental School is firmly committed to taking action across education, research and across the clinical facility.
This is the first year that University of Bristol Dental School has submitted a Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC), alongside 211 health professional schools across 23 countries.
The PHRC is a student-led, metric-based self-assessment tool designed to evaluate and improve planetary health engagement in health professional schools across the globe. It functions as a needs assessment to help institutions identify strengths and opportunities for growth, while fostering a global community of advocacy. Student teams around the world evaluate their institution against discrete, expert-written and peer-reviewed metrics across a range of planetary health domains.
Bristol Dental School has previously been recognised for its sustainability action, receiving a Gold Award for Laboratory Efficiency (LEAF) in 2024, and Green Impact in Dentistry Silver Award in 2026 for our sustainable practices within our clinical facility.
