Bristol Dental School receives a Silver Award for Green Impact in Dentistry

Bristol Dental School's sustainability efforts recognised with a Green Impact in Dentistry Silver Award.

Embedding sustainability is a core cross-cutting theme within the University of Bristol's Strategy. Bristol Dental School is committed to improving the sustainability of its clinical and teaching practices, which has been recognised through a Green Impact in Dentistry Silver Award.

Green Impact is a sustainability accreditation scheme with an audit and awards element. It’s an international programme, recognised by UNESCO as a global laureate for education for sustainable development. It runs in many different sectors and organisations, including a dedicated dentistry programme which launched nationwide in 2023. Green Impact is delivered by Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) and designed to provide practical advice and tips to dental teams across the UK, that want to improve their sustainability.

James Tubman, Senior School Manager said: "It is a team effort involving everyone in our building and we are proud to be recognised for our wider sustainability work. We continue to deliver sustainable practices both from an environmental as well as Public Health perspective, for example through promoting prevention. Sustainability teaching is also embedded in our curricula linked to the General Dental Council's new Safe Practitioner Learning Outcomes."
