Arriving by plane:

London Heathrow

Option 1 is to take the train to Bristol Temple Meads, via London Paddington. The travel time is approximately 2.5 hours and there are ~2 trains/hour. Timetables and ticket purchase can be found at https://www.thetrainline.com or https://www.gwr.com. It is cheaper to book in advance and to get a return ticket. Once you are at Bristol Temple Meads railway station, see below for getting around Bristol.

Option 2 is to take a coach. These run direct from the different Heathrow terminals to Bristol Bus station, National Express or Flixbus.

Bristol Airport

Bristol has its own international airport that is well served by many airlines, particularly to/from major European transport hubs, e.g. Amsterdam, Paris (https://www.bristolairport.co.uk). The airport is located about 30 minutes south of the city and is served by direct busses (https://www.firstbus.co.uk/bristol-bath-and-west/routes-and-maps/bristol-airport-flyer ) and taxis (https://arrowcars.co.uk/location/bristol/ ).

Arriving by train:

from London

There are multiple stations in London. Trains for Bristol leave from Paddington. The travel time is approximately 2 hours and there are ~2 trains/hour. Timetables and ticket purchase can be found at https://www.thetrainline.com or https://www.gwr.com . It is cheaper to book in advance and to get a return ticket.

There are two stations in Bristol: Bristol Temple Meads is in the city centre and Bristol Parkway is about 20 minutes out of town, so take care to select the right one.

Getting around in Bristol:

Bristol is a very compact city centre, so you are likely to be able to walk to most destinations. It is also well served by busses (see travelwest.info), taxis and Uber. For the more adventurous amongst you, there are eBikes and eScooters (https://ridedott.com – you will need their app).
