Exploring a leading UK city
Bristol is one of the UK’s most vibrant and exciting cities. It is proud of its creativity, diversity and independent spirit and it’s known for its culture, music scene, history, sustainability and café culture.
Bristol is a great mid-size city – you don’t get overwhelmed like you would in London. It’s laid back, and it has lots of green spaces, chic cafes and diversity.
With all of the buzz of a major city but without the expanse, Bristol is truly walkable. It’s also a friendly, safe place to live and home to 187 nationalities.
Staying in our accommodation
Accommodation is included in our programme fee, so you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere. You’ll stay in a single room in a Bristol hall of residence with shared bathrooms, communal spaces and a catered meal package (breakfast and an evening meal). Our secure residences have laundry facilities on-site and 24/7 duty teams.
Our exciting leisure and social programme
Your programme fee includes a fun and varied leisure and social programme to help you relax, enjoy the city and get to know your fellow summer students. Activities might include dinners out, a local boat tour and evening socials. We’ll also take you on day trips to explore some of the fabulous cities in the region.
Wellbeing and support
For all our taught summer programmes, you’ll receive the support of dedicated student mentors. These are Bristol students who will guide you around campus, accompany you to events and help you enjoy the city to the full.
You’ll also have full access to our Student Wellbeing and Health Services, our Student Visas team and our international cultural hub, the Global Lounge.
The University is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of background or circumstance. Please get in touch if you have any questions about inclusivity, disability/learning support and adjustments.
About Bristol
- The largest city in the South West
- Population of 465,900
- 90 minutes from London
- Has an international airport
- Easy access to nearby cities, beaches and rolling landscapes
- Georgian architecture, colourful graffiti and harbourside living
The University of Bristol is such an amazing and inclusive place and I always felt safe on campus. I wanted to give the United Kingdom a try rather than sticking to the United States, and it sure was worth it! The city was beautiful, the trips were worth it, and the school was so close.
