Our standard offering for a private and bespoke summer school includes accommodation, morning and evening meals, and a full programme of social and leisure activities. Everyone on our summer schools is registered as a Bristol student, meaning they have full access to our student services, including health and wellbeing support.

Who are our bespoke summer schools suitable for?

Our private and bespoke summer schools are aimed towards University of Bristol Study Abroad partners and International Partnership Universities, but we are open to discussing new opportunities with all higher education institutions. Our summer schools can be created for one or multiple partners, depending on interest in the desired subject area. Please get in touch using our bespoke summer enquiry form. We recommend getting in touch 12 to 18 months prior to your desired programme dates.

Creating your bespoke summer school

  • Dedicated point of contact
  • University of Bristol accommodation, with single rooms, shared bathrooms and communal areas
  • Catered meal package (breakfast and dinner) in accommodation
  • Midweek social and leisure programme and weekend excursions
  • Access to our Student Services, including Health and Wellbeing, Student Visas and the Global Lounge
  • Offer letters and visa support letters
  • Certificates of completion
  • Weekday lunch vouchers for University of Bristol outlets
  • Airport transfers to/from Heathrow, Gatwick or Bristol
  • Supplementary leisure and social activities 
  • Cohort size - a minimum of 20 students is required 
  • Cohort demographic - information on degree and year of study
  • Desired programme length - a 2-week programme is the minimum recommended 
  • Language requirements - information on students' current language level and if academic language classes are desired
    (please note, academic language classes are not designed or intended to improve a student's English language level. Classes work in conjunction with academic classes, focusing on academic language and study skills).
  • Accreditation requirements - our summer schools can provide credits to be transferred back to a student's degree (please note, accreditation is not guaranteed and is subject to agreement by the University of Bristol host school)

  • Advanced Experimental Chemistry
    In recent years, we have hosted a large group of students studying Chemistry from our partners in China. Students spend time in our labs, undertaking a range of experiments, and with our Centre for Academic Language and Development to improve their academic language and key study skills.
  • Computing Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE)
    In 2024, we hosted our first CASE cohort with over 50 students from our partner universities across China. Students spent two weeks learning and developing their programming languages, taking part in deep space simulations and improving their academic language skills with our Centre for Academic Language and Development.
