In practical terms, the intern will be meaningfully involved in real investment work: building and reviewing financial models, analysing industries and competitors, sitting in on management meetings and site visits, and contributing to investment committee materials. Interns will be trusted with responsibility, exposure and accountability. The experience is structured, demanding and highly immersive, offering a level of access and responsibility comparable to competitive private equity firms in the UK or Europe. It is a learning environment for students who want genuine exposure to how private equity works in practice, not just in theory.
Who we are looking for:
Students who are serious about building a career in private equity, investment banking or management consulting. They should enjoy problem-solving, structured thinking, and analysing businesses as systems (not just numbers on a spreadsheet), and be comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity. We value clear communication, strong work ethics, and the ability to learn quickly from feedback. Attention to detail, basic financial literacy and confidence working with data and presentations are important, as is the ability to manage time well and work responsibly in a professional environment.
If you're looking for something purely academic or purely operational, this may feel a bit intense. In a good way, we hope.
What can you expect to learn?
This is a front-line private equity internship, not a back-office or research-only role. The intern is embedded within a live deal team and gain exposure across the full investment cycle, from deal screening, market analysis to financial modelling, investment memos and, where timing allows, due diligence and execution processes.
Students will learn how to investment decisions are made in practice, how judgement and data interact and how real businesses are evaluated beyond theory. The experience is practical, immersive and designed to build genuine investment capability, not just technical knowledge.

What's Kuala Lumpur like?
