Spend 4 weeks studying abroad in one of Sweden’s fastest growing cities, Linköping.

LiU Summer Academy offers eight full-time courses, all taught in English. Each
course represents one of Linköping University’s areas of academic strength and
includes perspectives from the Swedish context.
The courses available for Summer 2026 are:
• Alternative Energy: the past, present, future and inventions
• Is there an app for that: potentials and pitfalls of using smartphones as medical devices
• Leadership and organisational behaviour in contemporary organisations
• Nanotechnology: sustainable challenges and social Impact
• Superman, Daisy Duck and Tintin: reading and learning in the world of comics
• Sweden: language, culture and society
• Swedish international management in a (de-) globalized world
• The use (and abuse) of culture
This programme will help you to:
- Gain knowledge about a specific topic from a different perspective
- immerse yourself in Swedish culture
- develop your intercultural skills
Eligibility
We have up to 16 'free' nominated spaces available.
- Undergraduates (not in first OR final year) who don't have a Swedish passport.
- Courses will be taught in English so there are no language requirements.
This course is exclusively available for nominated students. You cannot apply directly.
Costs
- Tuition is free and LiU covers the cost of most activities but optional short trips and the welcome dinner are at the student's own expense. See their website for more information.
- Accommodation fee is around £580.
- Return flights to Linköping from the UK are around £240 (via Amsterdam). You will need to arrange your own travel and visa (if required)
- You will need to bring your own spending money for food, any extra activities/travel/souvenirs, as well as travel accessories such as luggage, passport, etc.
- Nominated students will be eligible for free UOB travel insurance.
Funding
- Successful home students with a UOB bursary and/or Bristol Scholars will receive a £588 grant (to cover their accommodation and other expenses) as well as a £250 travel grant (for flights and internal travel).
- Successful students (home or international) who do not meet this criteria will receive a £476 grant to use towards their accommodation fee.
Application Process
- Submit form below by 11.59pm by Wednesday 4 February 2026. It will ask you to provide an email for a staff member within the university who can provide a short reference.
- Applications will be reviewed for suitability and shortlisted by Tuesday 3 March 2026.
- Students will be responsible for managing their application with LiU and register by Friday 20 March 2026.
