Funding available for summer programmes
Find out about funding available to help with the costs of your summer abroad.
Update for Summer 2026
We have a limited number of funded places available at select Partner Summer Schools and an alumni internship programme. Please visit the relevant pages for more information.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer funding to any third-party organisation programmes or opportunities which students find independently.
Medical students
Medical students undertaking an elective abroad who applied for funding and met one or more of the following criteria were offered funding in 2025/26:
- Your household income is below £25,000; this includes all recipients of the Access to Bristol Bursary and Bristol Scholars bursary,
- You receive Universal Credit; note that you must be the recipient, not a partner or family member
- You are care-experienced, an estranged student; (this must be registered with Student Finance), and / or a refugee or asylum seeker.
- You have caring responsibilities; this means you are 25 or under and care,
unpaid, for a friend or family member who could not cope without your support.
Availability of Turing funding for 2026/27 has not yet been confirmed by the UK government. Should funding be made available, the University of Bristol will apply for funding and if successful, funding will be confirmed in summer 2026. We expect the funding to be extremely limited. If the UK government does confirm availability of Turing funding, the Bristol Abroad team will invite Year 4 Medical students to apply for funding for Year 5 in spring 2026.
