Hosted by Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre
Conducting research should be accessible to all, and cancer research benefits from attracting and retaining a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds to tackle the disease. Yet being a researcher is still an exclusive practice. This is especially true for researchers who experience or identify with having a 'long-term condition', which might be a disability, chronic illness, mental health condition, or being neurodivergent.
This webinar will discuss the different challenges that these individuals face, covering common activities and expectations that can present a barrier, implicit values and attitudes, as well as a general lack of understanding and awareness of how these conditions are experienced. The subsequent discussion will then look at how to create a more inclusive research environment, free from ableism, that enables all researchers to achieve their potential.
