For all University of Bristol staff involved in research activity
The need to work in partnerships across different internal and external organisational boundaries is a fact of life in so many professions and academic fields these days. It can be great fun - bringing with it stimulating new perspectives and challenging questions that result in valuable insights. But it can also mean having to rely on people who have different priorities to you, report to a different boss, see the world differently, and who ultimately may not give you quite what you need, just when you need it. And of course, they are probably thinking the same about you!
This workshop is an opportunity to share experiences of how different sorts of partnership work, across the University and with external organisations - and how to bring out the best from all involved. And in doing so it will build your confidence and capability in setting up new partnerships or turning around ones that are struggling.
The workshop will be led by David Archer – author of the book Collaborative Leadership: building relationships, handling conflict, sharing control – who for the last 20 years has been a Director of Socia a consultancy practice that supports leaders of multi-party collaborations. An introduction from Michele Barbour, an Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor Enterprise & Innovation and a Professor of Biomaterials in Bristol Dental School.
