Network Digital Twin: Modelling, Applications and Challenges

Hosted by the Bristol Digital Futures Institute (note this talk was postponed from 27 September 2023)

In this talk, Dr Wu will explore how network digital twins can replicate the communication network, along with the operating configurations and application traffic that the network carries.

A network digital twin can be used to understand, learn and reason complex physical infrastructure, including both network devices and processes in a cost-effective way. Dr Wu will explain how it has been considered as a viable means to deliver future communication networks such as 6G.

He will also look at several ways of creating a network digital twin, along with discussions on the pros and cons of the mentioned methods. Professor Daniel Neyland, co-director of BDFI, will be chairing the event.

Dr Wu's research interests focus on digital twins and ethics-responsible decision making and their applications on future networks, connected systems, edge computing, and digital infrastructure.
