Clinical Research Start-up Seminars (CReSS) are for anyone in UHBW, the University of Bristol or the University of the West of England, Bristol, who is undertaking a new study, preparing a grant application, or wanting to know how to get started in research. The group provides guidance and peer-support for new and first-time researchers. Members of other NHS organisations in Bristol are welcome if places are available.

Healthcare staff are short of an invaluable resource – time. Time to spend caring for their patients while being confident they have the most relevant, evidence-based information they need to plan and deliver that care. Informed decisions improve outcomes, quality of care, patient experience, resource utilisation and operational efficiencies. This is best achieved when healthcare professionals are supported by the right knowledge services, with the right resources and with the right teams and roles. Health librarians and knowledge specialists make the gathering of information as easy as possible for healthcare professionals, relieving the burden of sourcing and synthesising evidence while enabling NHS organisations to meet their statutory obligations to get evidence into practice across the service. We also provide a range of Training Sessions including Literature Searching, Critical Appraisal and Understanding Basic Statistics. These are available as group session or one-to-ones either face to face or remote via applications such as Teams or WebEx and can be tailored to suit your needs.
