CDT Project Planning- Under-represented Health

Hosted by the Digital Health CDT

Prospective CDT supervisors seeking to collaborate with us on new research projects are invited to attend our next workshop themed on ‘Under-represented health’.

People can become under-represented in health and social care, or health research for several reasons, for example for being affected by certain health conditions, such as rare diseases or mental health, or by social and societal inequalities that marginalise some populations based on characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, or age. The topic description is deliberately broad to encourage digital health projects that could be linked to any aspect of under-represented health. Broadly, we are interested in projects that are relevant to either (or both) under-represented populations or diseases.

Our Digital Health & Care CDT students have expressed an interest in this topic and one aim of the workshop is to help match students with PhD supervisors. We find these workshops an effective way to enable students to meet with our academics from across the network, resulting in all 20 of our current students being successfully matched with supervisory teams and projects. Most of these matches were either a direct or indirect result of attendance to the workshops.
