Black in Cancer conference: Empowering the next generation

A collaboration between Cancer Research UK and Black in Cancer, this inaugural event will bring together scientists from across the globe to celebrate, collaborate and showcase Black excellence in cancer research and medicine.

This event is relevant for all academics and scientists across the research pipeline, and in all career stages. There will be ample time throughout the conference to network with peers, view posters and continue thought-provoking conversations outside of the agenda.

Registration fees

  • Undergraduates and PhD students: £60.00. (We will be offering a full ticket refund to all undergraduates and PhD students following their attendance at the event. Any attendees who do not attend the conference or cancel within 10 working days will not be refunded - see cancellation policy below for more information).
  • Post Docs: £60.00
  • Academic and Clinicians: £100.00
  • Industry: £350.00

Poster Abstracts

All attendees are eligible to submit a poster abstract under one of the three scientific areas – basic biology, clinical trials and translation

Deadline for abstracts is 22 July 2022

Applicants will be notified of acceptance from 1 August 2022

The presenting author of the abstract must register and pay the registration fee

An interactive poster viewing will take place during the evening receptions on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 October and posters will be on display throughout the conference (Please note the date and time is subject to change)

We're giving post-docs and students the opportunity to showcase their work as part of the conference programme.

  • 3 Post-docs will have 10 minutes (+5 minutes of questions) each
  • 3 PhD students to have 2 minute lightning talks (2 minutes) each
