Curious about life outside of academia but still in love with science? Ross Cloney is a senior editor and the team leader for biotechnology at Nature Communications and is here to discuss his journey from lab bench to editorial desk, from DNA repair to synthetic biology. In a talk featuring out-dated Simpson memes and musings about the future of synthetic biology, he’ll be here to answer your questions about journals, life as an editor, and what comes next.
Biography: Ross joined Nature Communications in November 2014. Like many synthetic biologists, he came to the field from other areas of molecular biology - in his case from an academic background in DNA damage and repair at the UNiversity of Sussex. His manuscript remit includes synthetic biology and genome engineering, as well as therapuetic biotechnology. Ross is based in the London office and currently a Team Manager and Senior Editor.
